Nay A. Eakins, Sr.
Nay A. Eakins, Sr., 66, of Sullivan, MO, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
Nay Allen Eakins was born in Evansville, IN, July 18, 1954, to Lee Allen and Norma Josephine (Daniels) Eakins. He grew up and attended and graduated from Mehlville High School, class of 1972. Nay was married to Janice Eiler on May 10, 1980. To their union a son, Nay, Jr., was born. Nay and Janice were later divorced.
Prior to moving to Sullivan in 2006, Nay made his home in Arnold, MO, for many years. He was employed in the construction industry for several years as a dump truck driver. His CB handle was the “Rainmaker”. Nay also drove a school bus for the Sullivan School District and worked for the City of Sullivan Street Department cutting brush and grass. Nay was married to his second wife, Tracey Kassman, on December 18, 2006.
Nay’s two passions in life were boating and cars. He especially enjoyed drag racing. He owned a Dodge Dart and the “Yankee Doodle”, which he won many races with. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching Daytona Racing and Westerns. He will be very missed by his family and many friends.
Nay is survived by his wife, Tracey Eakins, of Sullivan, MO; two sons, Nay A. Eakins, Jr. and wife, Jessica, of St. Clair, MO, and Jason Stover and wife, Tracey, of Sullivan, MO; eight grandchildren: Timothy, Khloe, Ethan and Carson Eakins, Makayla and Jacob Coleman, and Bella and Elijah Stover; two brothers, Gary Eakins and wife, Delores, of Arnold, MO, and Johnny Eakins and wife, Charity, of Evansville, IN; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Norma Eakins; and one sister, Janice Pogue.
Visitation was 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor John Blackmore officiating. Cremation followed.
