Mrs. Mary J. Dye

Mary Jessie Dye, age 90, of Alamo, Texas, formerly of Waynesville, was born September 3, 1931, at Bourbon, a daughter of Virgil Ransom and Eula Viola (Richardson) Pratt, and passed from this life Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Valley Baptist Hospital, Harlingen, Texas.

She was first united in marriage July 2, 1949, at Bourbon, to Calvin Mason Ivie, who preceded his wife in death. Mary was later united in marriage January 24, 1986, at Waynesville, to Dannie Loren Dye, who also preceded his wife.

Mrs. Dye accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and followed her Lord in baptism in 1996. She was a longtime member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Waynesville, and served as church secretary for many years. Mary was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP and was an election judge in Pulaski County for number of years.

During her working life, Mrs. Dye was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for ABC Moving and Storage and Safeway Van Lines, both in St. Robert, prior to her retirement. In addition to her church activities, Mary especially enjoyed reading as her favorite hobby and pastime, following her retirement.   

Those left to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dye include:  Three sons, Michael Ivie (Karen) of Cuba, Terry Ivie (Shawn) of Stockton, and Kenneth Ivie (Jackie) of Rowlett, Texas; one daughter, Beverly DeGraff (John) of Alamo, Texas; one adopted son, Brent Dye (Ruby) of Belton; and one step-son, Gary Dye of Waynesville; one brother, Eugene Pratt (Norma) of Perryville; one sister, Virginia “Gay” Slankard of Bourbon; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Pratt of Waynesville and Tommie Pratt of Camdenton; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her first and second husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Renee Ivie; her father, Virgil; her mother, Eula; two brothers, Donald Virgil Pratt and Curtis Pratt; two sisters, Rosalie Mayberry and Thelma Rowland; and one step-son, Dale Dye.

Visitation for Mrs. Mary Dye was held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., at Saturday, December 18, 2021, in First Freewill Baptist Church, 2001 Historic 66 West, Waynesville, MO 65583, with her funeral service following with Pastor Russell Johnson officiating under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.

Interment was in Hill Cemetery near Bourbon by Birmingham-Martin in Dixon.  Memorials in memory of Mrs. Mary Dye are to Hill Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes at the church day of service or in care of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, P.O. Box EE, Dixon, MO 65459.
