Matthew Wood
Matthew G. Wood, 48, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.
Matthew Glenn Wood was born in Jefferson City, MO, October 31, 1972, to the late Richard Wayne and Pamela Sue (Miller) Wood. Matt grew up in the cities of Sedalia, Owensville and Union. He was united in marriage to Connie Rae Harmon on October 24, 2014, in Union, MO. Matt was a machinist by trade and worked alongside his father, Richard, in a machine shop. Matt loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bow fishing and working in his yard. His passion was taxidermy and he had a menagerie of wildlife on his walls. Matt loved his wife, children and mother very much. He enjoyed mentoring his children in the art of hunting and fishing, which was another one of his passions. Matt also had a special bond with his father-in-law, Ferd Harmon, with whom he had coffee with each morning. They were known to solve the world’s problems every day. Matt was a wonderful son, loving husband and father, and friend to many.
Matt is survived by his wife, Connie Wood, of Sullivan, MO; seven of his children: James Wood and wife, Jiyun, of SC, Ryan Wood and girlfriend, Alexis, of Festus, MO, Nick Wood and girlfriend, Breanna Brown, of Union, MO, Brandon Keen and girlfriend, Karena Benson (and baby to be), of Sullivan, MO, Cody Keen of Sullivan, MO, Stacey Davenport and husband, Ryan, of NC, and Jeremy Strauser of Sullivan, MO; one grandchild, Kaiden Wood; his mother, Pamela Cohlman and husband, Mark, of Ozark, MO; three siblings: Rebecca Lanius and husband, William, of Sullivan, MO, Jared Wood of Ozark, MO, and Alicia Wood of Poplar Bluff, MO; nieces and nephews: Sean Wood of Rolla, MO, Kennadie Wood of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Alivia Hampton of Poplar, Bluff, MO; father and mother in law, Ferd and Judy Harmon of Sullivan, MO; two sisters, Cindy McMillen, and Chris Zancauske and husband, Keith, all of Sullivan. MO; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Wood, in infancy; his father, Richard Wood; and grandparents, Glenn and Bernice Miller.
Cremation services have taken place. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be 12 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the Wood family home – 235 Harmon Ln., Sullivan, MO 63080.
