Lee Armistead, age 81 of Sullivan, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Athea Lee known as Lee was born on January 16, 1943, in Beardstown, Illinois, to Algie C. and Lucinda I. (Braden) Sprague. Lee grew up in the Stanton area and attended Sullivan High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Glenn Armistead, Sr. on October 23, 1965, in Bourbon, MO. Lee was employed as a manager for several area businesses including Bobber Travel Center, The Hen House, Jack in the Box and Payless Shoes.  Lee adored her grandchildren and enjoyed taking them fishing. She also enjoyed all types of puzzles, flowers, gardening, and especially traveling without a plan. Lee was a wonderful mom, grandma and friend to many. She will be missed by her family and forever held in their hearts.

Lee is survived by her children, Donna Ulsh of Sullivan, MO, Tom Armistead and wife Shelley of Sullivan, MO, Carol Tarpley-Rangel of Little Rock, Arkansas, Laura Richards and husband Larry of Bourbon, MO, Joe Armistead and wife Teri of Columbia, MO; 19 grandchildren: Christi Deigan, Paul Irvin, Bradley Key, Tyler Areheart, Sarah Armistead, Amanda Reckner, Rachel Bouse, Zach and Shawn Jenkins, Samantha Rangel, Zachary, Corey and Natasha Richards, Savannah, Jack, Natalie, Johnny, Raiden and Lilly Armistead; 17 great-grandchildren: Morgan, Owen, Skyler, Audrey, Greyson, Natalie, Samarah, Collins, Copeland, Jeremih, Brayden, Shaelynne, Aria, Genesis, Kendall, Kolton and Cameron; one brother, Bobby Sprague and wife Vida of St. Clair, MO; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband Robert Armistead, Sr.; her son, Robert Armistead, Jr.; a grandson Jarrod Hunter; her parents, Algie and Lucinda Sprague; three brothers, Lawrence, Leonard and Kenneth Sprague; and three sisters, Della Kendall, Maxine Rice and Ollie Porter.

Services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Duke West officiating. Burial will be at Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, Missouri.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday, March 11, 2024, at the funeral home prior to the service.

 

Memorial contributions in Lee’s memory may be given to HALO.
