Jo Ann Lynn, 80, of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.

Jo Ann was born June 15, 1940 in Van Wert, Iowa, to Rufus and Hazel (Deemer) Reed. While still just a child, her and her family moved to Sullivan, where she attended school and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1958. Jo Ann and Steve Lynn met in high school and fell in love. They were united in marriage on June 19, 1959 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan, MO, and were blessed with three children: Steve, Greg and Teresa.

Jo Ann worked for Steve’s Standard Service Station as a bookkeeper, and then, in the insurance department at the Sullivan Hospital. Her true love and passion in life was being a mother and a wife.

Together, Jo Ann and her husband Steve moved their family to Bourbon in 1962, where they made their final home. Jo Ann had a servant’s heart and was very involved within the Bourbon Community. She served as the President of the PTO, a leader in the Girl Scouts Club, a hospice volunteer, and was a faithful member to the Eastern Star Organization for over 50 years. She held several offices within Eastern Star, including Worthy Matron and state office, Grand Ruth. Jo Ann also enjoyed traveling with her Eastern Star family.

Steve and Jo Ann enjoyed camping together and they often spent the winter months in Texas, and the summers visiting their son, Steve IIII, in Wyoming. Jo Ann enjoyed fishing and tending to her flowers. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Jo Ann was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 61 years, Steve Lynn, of Bourbon, MO; two sons: Steve Lynn IIII and wife, Jane, of Lander, WY, & Greg Lynn and wife, Teresa, of Sullivan, MO; a daughter, Teresa Bishop and husband, Dean, of Bourbon, MO; seven grandchildren: Kacie, Jenny, Maggie, Tasha, Karey, Steve   and Lindsey; a sister, Joyce Hartung, of Sullivan, MO; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Hazel Reed; two brothers: Jack & Jim Reed; and a sister, Jerry Bellows.

Visitation was 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Eastern Star Services began at 7 p.m.

Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Anaconda Cemetery – St. Clair.
