James L. “Jim” Goodbar, 84, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family. 

James Leslie Goodbar, better known as Jim, was born in Adrian, Missouri, August 28, 1936, to Oren and Ruby Goodbar. Jim grew up and attended school in Adrian, graduating with the class of 1952. Shortly after his schooling, Jim enlisted into the United States Army, where he honorably served our country for two years, spending some time stationed in Germany and England. 

After his service, he moved back to the states to find home in various towns, including Washington and Saint Clair, MO. Jim was a well-known bass player and belonged to the musician’s union, allowing him to play for many of the country greats on their rise to fame.

Jim spent most of his working career in the HVAC industry until his retirement in 1999. Upon his retirement, he moved to Woodland Lakes to make his final home. There, he enjoyed fishing, spending time on the lakes and especially enjoyed riding around in his dune buggy. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many. 

Jim is survived by three sons: Jeff Goodbar and wife, Jennifer, of Sullivan, MO, Randy Kleinhider of De Soto, MO, and Barry Kleinhider of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Sherry Caron of Cuba, MO, and Lexi Napier of Saint Clair, MO; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; Lloyd Goodbar; and two sisters, Gertrude Reader and Doris Crossland. 

Arrangements for cremation have been made with no services at this time.
