James F. Starr

James “Jim” Starr, 73, of Leasburg, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, April 26, 2021, surrounded by his family.

James Franklin Starr was born June 2, 1947 in Piggott, AR, to John and Zelma (Bare) Starr.  He grew up and attended school in Piggott, graduating high school in 1965.  After finishing school, he joined the US Army National Guard and spent several years in service to our country.  He relocated to Missouri after his family came to St. Louis, and there, he met and later married Donna Bertrand on November 6, 1976.  To this union three sons were born:  Jedadiah, Joshua and Joseph.  They eventually came to Bourbon to make their home and raise their family.  Jim and Donna later divorced.  Jim worked for Chrysler for most of his life, until his retirement in 1993.  He loved woodworking and putzing in his shop, as well as gardening around his home.  Jim will be missed by his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his loving companion, Sharon Shepherd of Leasburg, MO; three sons: Jedadiah Starr and wife, Samantha, of Bourbon, MO, Joshua Starr and wife, Shauna, of Spring Bluff, MO, and Joseph Starr and wife Christie of Bourbon, MO; twelve grandchildren: Trent, Madison, Dalton, Ryley, Jackson, Lucas, William, Chase, Sydney, Opie, Jase and Jesse; two great grandchildren: Kennedy and Baiden; four sisters: Margaret Heer of Upland, CA, Mary Ellen Baty, Margie Fuqua, Sharon Cole, all of Cuba, MO; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Starr.

A Celebration of Life Gathering was held from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., Friday, April 30, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
