Gladys "Sally" I. Hartung

Gladys "Sally" I. Hartung, nee Ransom, of Leasburg, MO was born on Friday, December 12, 1941 in Leasburg, MO to Emory Jackson "Jack" and Lillie Elena (nee Christopher) Ransom.  She passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 20 days.

 

Sally graduated from Bourbon High School in the Class of 1959.  She married the love of her life, August "Augie" Dean Hartung, on June 27, 1959 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Leasburg, MO by Rev. Delmar Hutson and to this union four children were born.  They lived in Affton, MO after they were wed.  When all of her children were in school she worked as a seamstress at Johnny Mac's Sporting Goods in Crestwood, MO.  After Sally and Augie retired in 1998, they returned to their family home in Leasburg.  Sally had accepted the Lord early in life and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening (both flowers and vegetables), watching and feeding the birds, playing cards and sewing.  She was an animal lover and especially loved cats and dogs.  Most of all, Sally loved her family.  

 

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Lillie Ransom; parents-in-law August William and Beulah Hartung, nee Burnett; siblings Dorothy (Charlie) Weber, Ellen (Ford) Maness, Delmar (Opal) Ransom, Jimmy (Imo) Ransom, Ray Ransom, Emory "Jackie" Ransom and kid brother Kenny Ransom; sister-in-law Hazel (Steve) Theodore; brothers-in-law Bartung "Dutch" (Bernice) Hartung, John William Hartung and Robert "Bob” Mesger.

 

Sally is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Augie Hartung of Leasburg, MO; children Kevin Hartung of Imperial, MO, Keith (Diana) Hartung of O'Fallon, MO, Kenneth "Kenny" (Kim Sarrich) Hartung of Affton, MO and Kathy (Kevin) Fujimoto of Eureka, MO; sisters Linda Bryan of Leasburg, MO and Joy Freeman of Moscow Mills, MO; sisters-in-law Ava Mesger of Sullivan, MO, Janie Mullen of Leasburg, MO and Fannie Hartung of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Kevin Hartung (companion Henry), Rex (Mayra) Hartung, Isaak Hartung, Nicky (Zhala) Fujimoto, Teddy Fujimoto, Sarah Hartung (companion Matt), Karah Hartung and Katie Quiles; great grandchildren Sirena Hartung and Ellie Foster; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Visitation is from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, MO.  Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating.  Burial is at Crossroads Cemetery in Leasburg, MO.
