Eddie D. Courtouise, age 70, of Bourbon, MO, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at St. James Living Center, St. James, MO.

Eddie Dean was born on July 4, 1951 in Richwoods, MO, to Felix T. and Alice C. (Heads) Courtouise. He grew up and attended school in Richwoods. As a young man, he went to work making tents for the military and continued working in various jobs throughout the years, including Meramec Shoe Company and Voss Trucking. Most recently he worked for Integram in Pacific, where he retired in 2008. Eddie was a skilled mechanic and became known as a jack of all trades during his lifetime.

He was united in marriage to Wanda Hampton on December 4, 1971 and to this union four children were born: Jennifer, Clayton, Ashley and Justin. Eddie and Wanda made their home in Texas for a brief time, before moving back to Bourbon where they remained to raise their family. Eddie and Wanda enjoyed 47 years of marriage together before her passing in 2018.

Eddie loved fishing and especially enjoyed many outings with his boys to the river. He could be found at home working on various projects, like repairing cars and lawnmowers. In his later years, he grew quite fond of animals. Eddie really liked feeding the birds and squirrels, and he loved his dogs, Brownie and Ariel. He was a big fan of watching old time western movies, enjoying a cold Busch Light, listening to county music, and all things coconut. 

Eddie is survived by four children: Jennifer Lewis and husband Ray of Cuba, MO, Clayton Courtouise and wife Shondra of Bourbon, MO, Ashley Durbin and husband Matt of Kirkwood, MO, and Justin Courtouise and wife Jennifer of Leasburg, MO; eight grandchildren: Haley, James, Chloe, Cara, Alex, Tucker, Henry and Nolan; a brother, Lonnie Courtouise and wife Brenda of Bourbon, MO; a sister, Barbara Courtouise of Bourbon, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda; his parents, Felix and Alice; three brothers: Dave, Daniel and Jimmy Courtouise; and two sisters, Bertha Meyer and Betty Reimler.

Funeral services were 12 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Mr. Duke West officiating. Burial followed in Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, MO.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in Eddie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
