Danny R. Jones, 67, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan.
Danny Raymond Jones was born October 23, 1956, in Saint Francois County, to Robert and Norma Jones. He grew up and attended school in Sullivan, and was a proud graduate of the class of 1975. His early life was marked by a loving union with Donna Bouse in the late 1970s, from which he was blessed with a daughter, Amity. Sadly, they later divorced.
His professional life began with a brief employment at the Meramec Mining Company, but soon Danny embarked on a successful career at US Silica, dedicating nearly three decades to hard work as a miner before he happily settled into retirement. Danny's heart once again found love in 1994 when he married Renee DeClue and embraced the role of father to a bonus daughter. Though this marriage too later ended in divorce, those years were marked by many cherished moments.
Danny was an avid outdoorsman and found joy in golfing, fishing, and shuffleboard. His remarkable catch of a 95-pound catfish on the Missouri River not only earned him a feature in the Missourian but also bragging rights among his fishing buddies. Danny was an undefeated pool player, even leading him to victory in tournaments as far as Las Vegas.
Danny's tough grit and "man's man" persona were balanced by his warm heart and his love for his grandkids.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Amity Jennell and husband Chris of Thomson, GA and Erin White and husband Steven of Sullivan, Missouri; his mother, Norma Jones of Branson, Missouri; four grandchildren: Colby, Rayna, Holden and Liam; a great granddaughter, Harmony; a brother, Dennis Jones; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Bryce; a brother Donnie Jones; a sister, Debbie Jones; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Funeral Services will be 6 PM, Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Duke West officiating.
Visitation will be 4 – 6 PM, Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
