Albert W. Stratman, aged 93, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO. His departure from this world marks the end of a life lived with unyielding generosity, patriotism, and devotion to his loved ones.

Albert William was born on March 13, 1930, in New Melle, MO, to the late Albert Henry and Martha (Brueggemann) Stratman. Growing up in a close-knit community, he laid a foundation of faith and integrity that carried throughout his life. Albert honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953. During his time of service in Korea, he was awarded multiple distinctions, including the Army Occupation Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge, a testament to his courage and dedication.

While attending school in Augusta, MO Albert met his true love, Magdalena Bade. They married on November 22, 1952, in Augusta making they’re first home at Camp Stoneman, California. Together they built a warm and loving home first in St. Charles and Defiance, then settling in Sullivan in 1960. There, they raised three wonderful children: George, Sally, and Barbara. Albert's dedication to his family was unfaltering, and he was known to be an endlessly supportive, kind, and loving father and grandfather.

Albert's working life spanned 45 years with the Canteen Company where he was a diligent employee, servicing vending machines. His professional commitment was parallel to his avid engagement in personal interests. Albert had a passion for camping and woodworking, and he found the most joy in the time spent among his growing family, guiding and witnessing each grandchild thrive in their unique pursuits.

His civic engagement extended into several key roles within the Sullivan community. Albert served with dignity as an Auxiliary Policeman, dedicated over twenty-five years on the board for the Sullivan Homes, and was an esteemed member of the Optimist Club. His desire to serve others reflected the kindness in his heart and his belief in giving back to the community that he cherished so much.

Albert and Magdalena were long-time members of the Presbyterian Church before they found a spiritual home at Peace Lutheran Church. Together, they celebrated faith, friendship, and community, further evidencing their commitment to a life guided by love and service.

Albert is survived by his loving wife Magdalena Stratman of Sullivan, MO; three children, George Stratman and wife Linda of Owensville, MO, Sally Payton and husband Ben of Claremore, OK and Barbara Hercules and husband Kevin of Sullivan, MO; four grandchildren, Christine Reichel and husband Travis of Argyle, MO, Nicole Cotner and husband Ricky of Sullivan, MO, Kara Stratman and fiancé Ryan Wieberg of Union and Michelle Walters and husband Nick Hoagland of Claremore, OK; eight great-grandchildren, Nathan Reichel and wife Emma, Brandon and Sam Reichel, Kaden, Riley, Shaw and Cam Cotner and Riley Walters; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends,

Along with his parents, Albert was preceded in death by a brother Roger Stratman in infancy; and by his sister, Emily Brakensiek and husband Oscar.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Ed Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville, MO with full military honors.

The Stratman family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Eaton Funeral Home.
