Two Arrested, Held For ICE By SPD
Two men arrested in separate incidents in Sullivan were found to have active warrants from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), according to the Sullivan Police Department.
On Wednesday, May 7, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Sullivan officers conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle failed to keep right. The driver, identified as Cruz Maita-Pena, 36, of Sullivan, was found to be driving without a valid license and was allegedly responsible for the traffic violation. Further investigation revealed that Maita-Pena had an active ICE warrant for immigration violations. He was taken into custody and held for federal authorities.
In a separate case, Jesus Torres Jimenez, 24, also of Sullivan, was arrested for allegedly stealing from the Sullivan Walmart, located at 350 Park Ridge Drive, on Friday, May 9, at 2:25 p.m. Jimenez was also found to be the subject of an ICE warrant and was detained for federal pickup.
Both individuals were released to ICE agents following their arrests.
