District Considering Full-Time Communications Position
A full-time communications coordinator position could be opening at the Crawford County R-1 School District.
Board members in January approved creating the job description and salary schedule.
“This role manages district-wide communications, strengthens relationships with local media and community partners, and serves as a key advisor on public relations strategies to support the district’s goals and positive public image,” the description reads.
Preferred candidates will have experience in public relations, media, or a related field, along with a strong understanding of the district community. The role requires excellent communication, writing, editing, and proofreading skills, as well as proficiency in public relations strategies and two-way communication. Applicants should be adept in technology, including graphic design, web publishing, social media, and print software. Strong analytical thinking, independent work capability, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential.
This role involves promoting the district’s mission across media, managing crisis communications, and supporting administrators with mass messaging. Responsibilities include overseeing the district website and social media, coordinating media relations, and creating marketing materials. The position also involves attending and documenting events, assisting with planning, and preparing newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials. Additionally, the role includes maintaining district policy knowledge, enhancing public perception, developing crisis communication plans, and contributing to strategic communication efforts. Other duties include attending key meetings, supporting safety initiatives, and recognizing student and staff achievements.
Bourbon created a communications position in 2020, but the role also came with the responsibility of accounts payable.
