County Sets Record November Sales Tax Collection

Crawford County’s sales tax revenue surged in November 2024, reaching a record-high $233,847.31, a 20 percent  increase from November 2023’s $193,975.34.

The strong performance contributed to the county finishing the year with $2,638,660.49 in total sales tax collections, surpassing the 2023 total of $2,608,161.67 by nearly $30,500.

While November marked a standout month, December collections dipped slightly. The county reported $220,239.89 in sales tax revenue for the final month of the year, a 2.27 percent decrease compared to December 2023’s $225,365.46.

Despite the strong year-end total, Crawford County faced a challenging second half of 2024.

Sales tax revenue was down year-over-year in the last three months before the November spike.

September’s general revenue collections totaled $229,494.93, a 3% decline from the $238,764.63 collected in September 2023.

Similar declines occurred in July (down 1.2%) and August (down 5.3%).

The September 2024 figures were also the lowest for that month since 2020, with the county collecting $250,281.55 in September 2021 and $254,836.49 in September 2022.

Despite these mid-year declines, Crawford County’s total sales tax collections remained steady through most of 2024, with $2,184,573.29 collected by the end of September, nearly matching the total at the same point in 2023.
