Woman Charged For Multiple Assaults Against Hospital Staff
A Steelville woman faces multiple charges for assaults that allegedly occurred over a span of several months at Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.
Sarah J. Parrott has been charged with two counts of third-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault.
The charges stem from incidents occurring over several months, in which Parrott, a patient at the facility, allegedly assaulted hospital staff members.
The first reported incident took place on May 14. While receiving medical treatment in the emergency department, Parrott allegedly kicked an emergency nurse in the upper right thigh.
Parrott was charged with fourth-degree assault.
A second incident occurred on Oct. 10. According to reports, Parrott became combative and attempted to barricade herself inside her hospital room. During the altercation, a staff member attempted to prevent the door from closing for safety reasons. As Parrott forcefully tried to close the door, it struck the staff member, causing a laceration to the left forearm.
The injury required medical attention and resulted in additional assault charges being filed against Parrott.
The most recent incident happened Oct. 20. Parrott reportedly became aggressive while hospital staff attempted to place her in restraints.
During the confrontation, Parrott allegedly tried to bite one of the staff members and then kicked another staff member on the right side of their head.
Although the victim did not sustain significant injuries, the incident marked the second time in 10 days that Parrott had allegedly assaulted hospital personnel.
Parrott was indicted in Phelps County last July on five counts of assault against hospital staff at Phelps Health.
