Wrestling Dances With Dragons In Home Dual

Sullivan slayed Dragons in the squared circle on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The high school wrestling program battled Ste. Genevieve in their second home dual of the season.

Varsity Girls

Before the first whistle, three Lady Eagles were recognized in a Senior Night ceremony. They said their goodbyes to the town of Sullivan and then, minutes later, sent their farewells to the Dragons.

Dorie Richardson (140) took down Ragan Picou in 2:43 for her final home bout. Ruby Daily (170) delivered a senior goodbye to Aniston Cremer with a 0:27 pin. After winning a forfeit, Katie Summers (190) raised her hand for one last time in her high school gym.

Chloe Carson (155) brought the boom to Anna Fischer in a 3:30 takedown.

Abigail Erfurth (235) seized six points by forfeit for the Lady Eagles.

Autumn Hardesty (130) showed grit against Lilli Farrow in a 2:53 loss, while Starr (145) battled Kathryn Kerzog to the wire in a 5:11 fall. Both gave strong efforts and left everything in the ring.

Ste. Genevieve capitalized on four forfeited victories to win the dual 36-30.

Varsity Boys

Despite being outscored 49-25, the Eagles gave Ste. Genevieve a tough fight worth remembering.

Ian Henderson (106) drew first blood for Sullivan. He snatched five points in a 20-3 technical fall over Drew Roth.

The Dragons roared to the top with two forfeits and an 11-6 decision over Carter Blankenship (126).

Conner Roach (132) brought the Eagles back on the board. He delivered a 17-2 technical fall over Micah Scherrer.

Eli Peregoy (138) then cut Sullivan’s deficit to two, clutching a 4-3 decision over Owen Drury.

Austin Ray (150) gave Sullivan hope with a 3:20 pin over Colton Brace, but the Dragons continued to fire up points.

Brennan Birrer (190) overcame the jaws of defeat for Sullivan’s final victory. Madden Wolk retained control for most of the match until Birrer flipped him over to win in 2:47.

Oliver Borton (144), Lucas Hunter (157), Nathan Garcia (165), Ethan Turner (175) and Tucker Fruewirth (285) fell in their bouts despite fighting the Dragons tooth and nail.
