Man Charged After Stabbing in Road Rage Incident Near Cuba
A road rage confrontation Dec. 4 on Interstate 44 escalated into a violent altercation, leaving one man seriously injured and another facing felony charges in Crawford County.
Roger Martin, 63, Cuba, has been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action following the incident. He is being held without bond at the Crawford County Jail.
Authorities allege Martin stabbed the victim multiple times during a dispute that began on the interstate and culminated at a stoplight near the Highway 19 exit in Cuba.
According to witnesses and police reports, Martin had reportedly been driving aggressively, swerving in front of the victim’s vehicle and braking suddenly while gesturing angrily. Both vehicles exited the interstate, and the confrontation continued when the drivers exited their vehicles at the stoplight.
Witnesses stated that after an exchange of words, the victim who was stabbed punched Martin. Shortly after, H. was found severely injured with stab wounds to his abdomen, side, and armpit.
Emergency responders transported the victim via airlift to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur, where he underwent treatment for his injuries.
The responding officer reported finding Martin seated near his vehicle, and a knife believed to be the weapon used in the stabbing was recovered from his car.
Martin refused to speak with the officer without an attorney present.
