Boys Soccer Completes Hat Trick In Week Four
Sullivan’s boys soccer team (5-6) executed a hat trick of wins in week four. The Eagles won three consecutive matches for the first time since 2021. They won their first home games of the season against Wright City (1-6) and St. Paul Lutheran-Farmington (0-4), as well as a double-overtime victory over Laquey (3-9).
Wright City
The Eagles brewed up a storm over Wright City on Monday, Sept. 23. The game was postponed eleven minutes in due to nearby lightning. When the game resumed an hour later, Sullivan lit up the Wildcats, shutting them out with three strikes.
Carsen Dudley had a thunderous performance in the pouring rain and was named the Man of the Match. He rolled in Sullivan’s second goal and recorded an assist.
He and Josiah Tanner tied for a team-high five shots. J. Tanner also assisted Reed Newbanks’ score.
Newbanks gave the Eagles a booming start with the first goal and later fired two shots.
Kaden Smith bolted down the field for Sullivan’s final kill shot, striking lightning at the net in the second half.
Smith and Matthew Hamblin both made two on-goal attempts.
Luke Herron, Caleb Kwok, Zaiden Marler, Logan Schlueter and Ben Tanner tied for a shot.
Alex Toews executed five saves as Sullivan’s goalie.
Laquey
On the following day, the Eagles edged out Laquey 4-3 in double overtime.
Herron led the Eagles with eight shots and two goals, including the game-winner in double overtime. For his efforts, he was named the Man of the Match.
J. Tanner tallied two scores and blasted three shots.
Dudley contributed two assists and two shots.
Smith recorded an assist and a shot.
B. Tanner made two on-goal attempts.
Eagles goalie Toews clutched eight saves.
