Maggie Heidbrink of Anytime Fitness received approval to host the 6th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K on Nov. 28. The event, scheduled for 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, has raised more than $26,000 for the Sullivan Special Olympics over the past five years.

The Sullivan Soccer Association also gained approval for its Fan Fest event, which will take place on Oct. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sullivan Soccer Field. The fundraiser is set to support the Sullivan High School soccer team.

City Administrator J.T. Hardy recommended, and the council approved, awarding the bid for 34 wood poles to Graybar of Kansas City for $17,521.22. This bid was the lowest of four, with others ranging up to $19,518.72.

The council also approved the payment of monthly bills, including $107,774 for the purchase of a new dump truck from Ed Morse Chevrolet, $788,596.68 for MPUA Power Supply, and $25,480.32 to Oak Grove Village as its portion of Wal-Mart sales tax revenue.

Additionally, the council passed Bill 4033, sponsored by Alderman Chris Bunk, which consolidates three lots into a single property at 75 East Washington Street, owned by Jon Krygiel.

The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss matters related to real estate, litigation, personnel, and contractual negotiations.
