Volleyball Rolls Past Tigers

Sullivan’s volleyball team (3-0) started their week strong with a shutout over Waynesville (1-1) on Monday, Sept. 9. They went undefeated in all three contests, winning 25-20, 25-9 and 25-20.

First Set

Sullivan ran up six unanswered points to begin the first set. Karlee Head set up Sydney Montee for the kill that took a one-point lead.

Kelsie Hansel spiked the second score while Montee served up aces to keep their momentum alive. Ava Blankenship delivered an explosive block before Waynesville made their first strike.

The Lady Tigers found their rhythm with five scores to cut a three-point deficit.

Abby Record powered a spike, and Trinity Midyett nailed an ace to put Sullivan back on track.

The Lady Eagles soared to a 21-16 lead before Waynesville tightened a two-point gap.

Head coach Sarah Rochleau iced the Lady Tigers with a timeout. Once Sullivan returned to the court, Record landed aces, and Blankenship tipped the game-winner over the net.

Second Set

Sullivan fired on all cylinders to win their second set 25-9.

Blankenship continued to execute kills and blocks while Record and Todd fired aces. Midyett came in clutch on many moments, making low digs to keep drives alive.

Saling sealed Sullivan’s victory with fiery spikes and a block to cap it off.

Third Set

The Lady Eagles held off Waynesville’s rally to win their third match 25-20.

Sullivan capitalized on Waynesville’s errors by putting their first points on the board. Blankenship and Saling both drilled kills to break ties. Hansel launched a bomb over the net while Record and Head unleashed a double block to cushion the lead.

The Lady Tigers roared back to a two-point deficit at 22-20. Blankenship came to the rescue by nailing the final kills in the coffin.
