Union Man Charged With Stealing Truck
A Union man was charged after he allegedly stole a truck.
William D. Vega faces one count of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.
Vega is accused of stealing a truck from the 3200 block of Whiskey Creek Road on Sept. 9.
Around 9:30 a.m. that day, the Missouri State Highway Patrol located the vehicle in a parking lot across from St. Gertrude Elementary School in Washington.
A witness inside the school said a male and female were seen running away from the truck toward Highway A.
Surveillance video was obtained from a security company showing the suspects.
The owner of the stolen vehicle arrived to retrieve her vehicle. Additional items were missing from the truck.
Around three hours later, deputies responded to the area of Highway BB for a trespassing. Vega was located inside a vehicle parked next to an abandoned residence.
Deputies found the stolen items located in the backseat.
Vega allegedly admitted to knowing the truck was stolen when he abandoned it across from the school.
Vega is on probation for burglary.
