Final Plea Date Set For Accused Shooter
The final day for a Bourbon man accused of shooting a woman through her car is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Caleb Sappington is scheduled to appear before Judge Megan Seay. If he maintains that he’s not guilty, Sappington heads to trial beginning Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Sappington faces multiple charges stemming from a shooting that occurred Nov. 20, 2023.
There are three counts of armed criminal action, three counts of first-degree assault and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.
Sappington is accused of shooting the victim in the back of her shoulder as her was driving away.
The probable cause statement claims the victim down Sappington’s driveway and was told to leave. As they were leaving, Sappington’s mother allegedly followed the victim in her vehicle. Sappington is alleged to have followed in his.
Once the victim reached the top of Sappington Road, the victim flipped off Sappington’s mother and drove away.
Sappington is then accused of grabbing a hunting rifle and shooting at the vehicle as it drove away.
A .243 rifle and spent cartridges were located at the scene.
