Franklin County SWAT, WPD Arrest Man Following Standoff
A Washington man surrendered following a nearly two-hour standoff on July 18 with police and the Franklin County SWAT Team.
Cody L. Harris, 33, barricaded himself in his home in the 2000 block of East Fifth Street.
Harris was being served a warrant for first-degree stalking and violation of a protection order, stemming from actions against his estranged wife.
Washington Police attempted to serve the warrant at 2:19 p.m. Harris retreated into his house and barricaded himself in the premises.
Officers contacted Harris on the phone and tried to coax him out, but he refused.
Due to previous contacts with Harris, officers knew he was usually armed and in possession of numerous firearms.
SWAT was activated and once they arrived on scene, began contacting Harris.
After several more minutes and a show of force by SWAT and their armored vehicle, Harris emerged from the home and was taken into custody.
