Multiple Crashes Reported During Soggy Tuesday

The remnants of Hurricane Beryl drenched the area on July 9, creating hazardous road conditions, causing multiple wrecks and tying up local traffic.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a crash around 1 p.m. on Interstate 44 between Stanton and St. Clair caused injuries to three occupants.

A 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by Christopher A. Carwile, 28, Union, lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway.

The car went off the road, hit a tree and overturned.

Carwile had moderate injuries and was taken to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital.

Joya B. Manees, 27, Union, had serious injuries. She was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Marina M. Smith, 18, Union, received minor injuries and was taken to MBSH for treatment.

None of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

Around 2:33 p.m., a Bourbon woman had moderate injuries in a crash on Highway KK in Franklin County.

Tonya L. Converse, 49, was traveling too fast for conditions in a 2005 GMC Canyon. She crossed the center, traveled off the left side and into a ditch. The vehicle then overturned.

Converse, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington.
