Deputies Arrest Man Following Struggle Over Taser
A Cuba man wanted for stealing a vehicle was arrested July 8 following a struggle with sheriff’s deputies.
Orzo Miller, 33, has been charged with third-degree assault, disarming a peace officer, resisting arrest and property damage.
Miller also has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle. The vehicle was stolen July 1.
A deputy encountered Miller in the parking lot of Skippy's Bar and Grill. The subject was wanted in connection with a vehicle theft and the deputy advised him that he was under arrest.
Miller attempted to flee from the deputy and he gave chase.
The deputy was able to deploy his taser to subdue Miller, but the suspect was able to break away and flee again.
The deputy pursued him and brought him to the ground, where Miller began physically fighting and resisting the deputy. Miller then wrestled the taser from the deputy in an attempt to use it. However, the deputy had turned the taser off during the struggle.
The suspect continued to fight and resist the deputy for nearly four minutes before backup arrived.
The suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of another deputy before being treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
He was then transported to the Crawford County Adult Detention Facility pending formal charges.
The deputy was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and was later released.
Miller was given no bond for these charges.
Miller was given a bond of $5,000.00 cash/surety for that charge.
