Road Rage Incites Man To Allegedly Brandish Gun At Motorist

The Missouri State Highway Patrol on Feb. 22 arrested a Ballwin man who allegedly brandished a handgun at a motorist on Interstate 44 in Crawford County.

Parrish S. Fastenau, 61, faces one count of unlawful use of a weapon — exhibiting.

According to the probable cause statement, the highway patrol seized a loaded handgun from Fastenau, who allegedly admitted to showing the motorist he was armed. 

The incident unfolded around 5:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes between Bourbon and Leasburg.

The victim was traveling with two passengers, including a juvenile.

The victim said Fastenau had cut them off twice. The victim passed Fastenau and went around three tractor trailers. While passing the tractor trailers, Fastenau began tailing too close.

Fastenau was then observed reaching behind his seat. 

After the victim passed the tractor trailers near mile marker 216, Fastenau passed them and cut back in front. Fastenau allegedly pointed a handgun through the window. 

The victim backed off and let Fastenau pull ahead and followed from a distance.

The highway patrol arrested Fastenau at Highway 185 and Interstate 44 in Sullivan.

Fastenau allegedly told the highway patrol he brandished the gun at the driver and said that was it was in response to being “brake checked.”

Fastenau is being held on a $15,000 cash bond.
