County Law Enforcement Conduct Sex Offender Compliance Check

Law enforcement agencies throughout Franklin County completed a compliance check Sept. 7-8 on the registry's 285 sex offenders.

Officers from police departments in Gerald, New Haven, Pacific, St. Clair, Sullivan, Union and Washington assisted the Franklin County Sheriff's Office during the check.

“This compliance check on sex offenders is a yearly joint operation to ensure that all 285 persons on the sex offender registry are in compliance with the registry guidelines,” said Franklin County Sheriff Steven Pelton.

One person was found to be in violation and a warrant was sent to the prosecuting attorney’s office for review.

Two other people were arrested during the checks.

Tracy Turnbull, 41, Catawissa, is a sex offender who had a warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Turnbull refused to answer the door when law enforcement arrived at his home.

The Franklin County SWAT team was called in to assist and Turnbull was taken into custody.

Casey L. Lewis, Union, was arrested on a warrant for endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of possession of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance.

“Although, it is not required by statute for law enforcement to conduct compliance checks the Law Enforcement community of Franklin County makes every effort to ensure the safety of the children in our communities,” Pelton said.
