Suspect Destroys ATM, Obtaining Cash From FSCB Monday Morning

The Sullivan Independent News was on the scene early Monday morning, June 26, at First State Community Bank, 3 West Springfield Rd., after a suspect destroyed the ATM, obtaining and fleeing with an unannounced amount of cash.

According to Sullivan Police Chief Patrick Johnson, officers were dispatched to FSCB at 5:05 a.m. for an ATM Alarm sounding.

“Our officers arrived on the scene and discovered substantial damage to the ATM door and theft of the cash held within,” said Chief Johnson.

Johnson stated that the investigation revealed that the suspect operated a black Toyota 4Runner which had been stolen from Straatmann Toyota, 215 George Hildner Dr., Washington.

The suspect utilized the stolen vehicle along with a tow hook to forcefully access the ATM and cash held within.

Surveillance video shows the suspect to be a white male, wearing dark pants, long sleeve black shirt, a gray baseball cap and a black face mask.

Following the theft, the suspect is believed to have abandon the vehicle outside of St. Clair before burning the vehicle.
