Leasburg Man Fatally Injured Monday Evening
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office, Department of Communications released to Sullivan Independent News that a Leasburg man passed away during a fire in an apartment complex off First St, Leasburg, at 4:45 p.m.
According to the initial report the fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. in one apartment occupied by Cheyanne L. Acosta, 50, Leasburg.
The first fire personnel on the scene, according to Mike O’Connell, Communications Director for the Missouri Department of Public Safety, was at 4:59 p.m.
O’Connel reported that an autopsy was being performed on the victim Thursday and the DFS will move forward with completing the investigation into the fire.
“Damage from this fire did not spread to other units,” said O’Connell, via email to Sullivan Independent News. “There was one smoke detector in the residence and it was destroyed during the fire. The residence sustained moderate interior damages.”
More information on this fatal fire is expected to be released in the coming days, according to authorities.
The fire was brought under control by members of the Leasburg, Bourbon and Cuba Fire Departments, according to sources.
