Man Convicted For Rape At Meramec State Park

A man was convicted April 25 for raping a victim at Meramec State Park in May 2017.

John Swearinger, born 1984, was found guilty of first-degree rape. Swearinger's last address shows him as a Valley Park resident.

The case was tried by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.

According to a press release from Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s office, Swearinger sexually assaulted the victim at the cabins that year.

He was a chaperone, but crawled into bed with the victim and raped her while she slept.

The Attorney General’s Office was appointed to prosecute the case after a conflict arose for the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office.

Swearinger is set to be sentenced May 17.
