Parks Tax, Bond Issue, Redistricting Pass; County Approves Marijuana Tax
Voters in Sullivan on Tuesday approved a parks and recreation tax, while voters in the Sullivan School District supported a $22 million bond issue and transferring 366 acres of property to the Spring Bluff R-15 School District.
At the county level, 64 percent of voters approved a 3 percent sales tax on recreational marijuana.
Parks and Recreation
Sixty-eight percent of voters supported the parks and recreation tax.
The tax has been used for the Elmont Overpass for the past 19 years.
The city has a long list of projects it will seek to accomplish with the tax.
Bond Issue
Proposition S was approved by an overwhelming 83 percent of voters, giving the school a $22 million bond issue.
The money will be used to make safety and security upgrades throughout the district.
Spring Bluff
A proposal to detach approximately 366 acres from the Sullivan School District to the Spring Bluff R-15 School District was approved by both voters in Spring Bluff and Sullivan.
Proposition 4 passed 227 to 210 in Sullivan and was approved 84-60 in Spring Bluff.
