Steelville Man Working On Stolen Car Arrested

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office said a Steelville man was arrested March 26 after he was found working on a stolen vehicle.

Darren T. Brinkley, 36, has been charged with first-degree tampering. His bond was set at $25,000.

Brinkley also had an active warrant out of Phelps County for possession of a controlled substance.

According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy located a stolen vehicle in the 18500 block of Highway 19 in Steelville.

As the deputy approached, he noticed a subject — Brinkley — working on the vehicle.

Brinkley was detained.
