Sullivan Officer Injured In Accident

A Sullivan police officer sustained minor injuries Feb. 17 after a vehicle failed to yield to his

patrol vehicle with his emergency lighting and siren activated.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident occurred when Officer Zachary S.

Hudson, 36, Sullivan, operating a 2017 Ford Explorer, was traveling westbound on

East Springfield Rd. and traveled into the intersection located at Highway 185 South, controlled by a green light.

In emergency mode, with activation being displayed, Hudson entered the intersection and a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated westbound by Marietta Lauridsen, 70, St. Clair, was not aware of Hudson’s patrol car and traveled directly into the path

Hudson swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision with the Lauridsen vehicle and the left front corner of the patrol car struck the left rear corner of the Lauridsen vehicle.

Hudson, wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to

Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles received moderate damages.
