Stroetker Retires From Sullivan Eye Care
Joseph Stroetker, O.D. retired Jan. 1 and will no longer be providing care at Sullivan Eye Care.
There are currently three other optometrists on staff at Sullivan Eye Care to see new and existing patients: David Prange, O.D., Jason Riley, O.D., and Lauren Dermody, O.D. who have been providing eye care there for 20 years, 15 years and two years, respectively.
This optometric practice was originally started by Dr. John Lannon, O.D., in the early 1950s. He attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago on the GI Bill following WW II. Dr. Lannon had several office locations on Main and Clark Streets from the 1950s into the 1980s. When Dr. Lannon first opened in Sullivan, he supported himself by working part-time at the optical department at Famous-Barr in downtown St. Louis for a few years. Joseph Stroetker, O.D. took over the practice from Dr. Lannon on Jan. 1, 1987, when it was located at 121 N. Clark Street. In October 1989, he moved the office to 280 E. Springfield Road, where it is today.
“I greatly appreciate the confidence and loyalty my patients have shown me over the last 38 years,” Stroetker said. “I want to assure them that any of the three optometrists on staff at Sullivan Eye Care can provide equal care. I plan to stay in the area and spend more time with family, friends, and hobbies. Thank you all for your trust and support.”
