Leslie Man Charged with Assault, Resisting Arrest, Property Damage and Stealing

A Leslie man was arrested Saturday, Dec. 10 after he allegedly headbutted a sheriff's deputy and stole items from Golden Bear Fireworks in Stanton.

John A. Busse, 34, has been charged with third-degree assault, resisting arrest, property damage and stealing.

His bond was set at $50,000.

Busse reportedly stole several items from Golden Bear and left the area on foot.

A deputy located Bussee walking westbound on the North Service Road between Stanton and Sullivan. The deputy attempted to detain him, but he refused to comply and walked away. 

Busse was ordered to put his hands behind his back, at which time he pulled away and a struggle ensued. During the incident, Bussee headbutted the deputy and broke his eyeglasses. 

A struggle continued, but Busse was eventually arrested with another deputy and a Sullivan officer assisting.

The stolen items were located in Busse's pockets.
