Skeletal Remains Located In West Sullivan

UPDATE: Preliminary findings from the medical examiners office indicate the skeletal remains found are that of an adult caucasian male. The skeletal remains are being sent to a forensic anthropologist for further examination and identification.

"It may take several weeks to properly identify the remains that were located," said Sheriff Darin Layman. "We have had several inquiries regarding this case, however upon properly identifying the remains and notifying the families, we will provide an update."

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office said skeletal remains were located Friday in West Sullivan.

Deputies were dispatched to the 4100 block of the North Service Road to investigate.

"Members of our office and our Criminal Investigations Division responded to the area and located skeletal human remains," said Sheriff Darin Layman. "An investigation was conducted at the scene and evidence was collected.

At this time, Layman said identification cannot been determined and the remains were released to the Crawford County Coroner's Office.

The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released when available.
