Bourbon High School Students Utilizing RTI/C

The Rolla Technical Institute/Center  continue to be utilized by Bourbon High School students.

BHS counselor Michelle Ray reported Sept. 15 to the Crawford County R-1 School Board that a total of 33 juniors and seniors were attending the vocational school.

Twenty-three of those students attended last year.

Bourbon had 35 applications.

Ray said each student who applies is screened.

“We look at discipline and grades,” Ray said as part of the evaluation process. A few years ago, the board expanded the number of spots.

RTI/C serves approximately 800 students annually, which come from 10 high schools located in four different counties.

RTI/C focuses on college and career preparation, offering opportunities for students who are looking to acquire technical skills for employment out of high school and advanced placement into post-secondary education associate degree programs.

RTI/C offers a variety of programs, including auto technology, construction, culinary arts, EMT, fire and rescue, information technology (IT), masonry and more.

College & Career

Trish Lewis, the high school’s college and career advisor, addressed the board as well. Lewis said 46 students have applied to colleges and 15 have already received acceptance.
