Lady Eagles Ready To Roll After Jamboree
Sullivan volleyball held a jamboree last week on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles hosted Potosi and Owensville. Sullivan won all their matches on the night and are ready to roll into the new season on Tuesday at home against Blair Oaks.
Potosi
Sullivan was the first to score in the first match. They rebounded when they scored on a 10-7 score. Raegan Johnson saved the ball from being scored again. Emma Brune hit the ball just over the net and Sullivan was only down by two. Sullivan tied up the match again at twelve with Olivia Witt as the server. Stevi Saling tied the score again at thirteen and Sullivan kept up the intensity with a score after Anna Brooks served a fireball. Sullivan’s teamwork shined and Potosi was scared and took a time out. Sullivan secured the win in the first match, 21-15.
The Lady Trojans scored the first point in the second match. Sullivan found themselves down, 9-6. Johnson was the server and they rallied back when Brune swatted the ball back with a quick score. Sullivan tied up the score at 11 and broke the tie when Maci Nolie was serving and Saling landed a huge spike in the front. They ran the score up to 15-11 before the Lady Trojans took a time out. The Lady Eagles finished the set with a score of 21-17.
The third match seemed like a repeat of the first match when Sullivan was the first to score. They tied the score back at two and broke the tie with Witt as the server. Sullivan broke away until Potosi made the score 6-4. Brune served up another heater and made the score 10-5. A timeout was called and Sullivan extended their lead to 14-10 with Nolie landing aces left and right. Witt landed a few points for Sullivan and Saling made another huge spike to give Sullivan the 17-11 lead. The Lady Eagles defeated Potosi for the last match, 21-15.
Owensville
Sullivan used the same motivation to win all their matches against Owensville. Sullivan came out with a huge start when they scored eight unanswered points with Nolie serving up more aces. Owensville decided to take a timeout when the score was 17-6. The Lady Eagles kept the domination and won 21-9.
Owensville drew the first blood in the second match but Sullivan kept up the same motivation and domination from earlier in the night. The Lady Eagles made the score 6-1 before Owensville needed to take a timeout to regroup. Owensville made a huge spike in the front and that brought the score to 10-6. The now motivated Dutchgirls tied the score at 13 and broke the tie right after when a ball barely cleared the net. Sullivan’s Head Coach Sarah Rochleau took a time out to talk to her team but Owensville added more scores. Sullivan eventually tied the score back up at 16 with Emily Clonts as the server. Sullivan made sure to barely secure the match win, 21-17.
The last match of the night was back and forth in the beginning with the Dutchgirls tying up the score at 4. They extended their lead until Sullivan rallied back with Johnson as the server, 7-6. The Lady Eagles tied it up after Brune blasted a huge spike back at Owensville. She tied up the game again at eight in the same fashion with a huge spike. The difference maker in the game was when Sullivan ran away with the game after making the score 20-12. The Dutchgirls scored two more times before Sullivan defeated Owensville, 21-14.
