Sullivan Football Ready For Fall Season

Sullivan’s football team has been active on the field this summer and practicing for the upcoming season.

Eddie Haar is looking forward to his third year as the Eagles’ head coach. Sullivan is happy to be in a routine with Haar manning the reins.

The Eagles held their annual Gridiron Classic last month and have had a stellar summer.

The Gridiron Classic featured three other schools for the two nights of early summer football.  Cuba, Wright City, and St. Pius X Catholic made the trek to participate in the summer scrimmages.

“We have had a great summer with our 7-on-7 scrimmages and our Gridiron Camp and I couldn't be more excited for our kids.” Haar said.

Sullivan finished with a record of 5-6 last year. This was a major improvement compared to the year before when they won only three games.

This will be the first year in a while that Sullivan will have to play without stars Alex Goly and Ty Shetley. Both had major roles the last few seasons.

Senior Gabe Dace is looking to make his return as the starting quarterback. He’s already shown his cannon for an arm during the classic.

Junior Jeremiah Rodriguez had a great season last year and is already destined to be one of the primary ball carriers this season. Rodriguez has been nearly unstoppable when he has the ball at practice.

Sullivan has been explosive since they’ve been finding their groove with Haar’s third season as head coach. The Eagles have been putting in work and they shined during two nights of the Gridiron Classic.

Franky Erxleben is making his return on the football field as the other primary ball carrier.

Gavin Dace also shone at practice and put on the same great performance as he did last season. Dace excels on both sides of the ball.

Sam Summers also returned as the stupendous tight end for the Eagles.

Kayden Bryan and Dom Ransom trounced their opponents as the defensive ends.

Jordan Rice has been busy on the wrestling and baseball teams and will be the middle linebacker for Sullivan and play on the offensive line.
