Cuba Teen Brandishes Gun, Assaults Victim During Altercation At Brown’s Canoe Rental
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Cuba teen June 18 after he allegedly brandished a firearm and assaulted a victim during an altercation at Brown’s Canoe Rental in Steelville.
Chance Henson, 18, has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree assault.
Henson is being held without bond.
The sheriff’s department said deputies were dispatched to the canoe rental for a fight in progress.
Henson had allegedly brandished a firearm, but left the scene.
The suspect vehicle was stopped by a deputy en route to the area.
It was the second incident involving Henson and the victim that occurred that day.
The victim was struck several times in the head during both incidents and Henson allegedly threatened his life prior to brandishing the gun.
Several bystanders were in the area when the gun was brandished, including uninvolved children.
