Inaugural BHS Arts In Action Thursday
Bourbon High School will host its first-ever Arts In Action event on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The evening will feature performances by the high school band and choir and displays from the art and agriculture programs.
BHS Principal Matt Peregoy said there had been discussion on hosting an event over the last year and it all came together as a way to show off the choir, band, art and industrial programs in one night.
“This will be an interactive showcase of all the arts we do in the district that is arts related,” Peregoy said. “The bands and choirs will be hosting their spring performances. The art programs will be displaying work they’ve done as well as hosting several interactive art projects for the public.”
Some of the projects include paper marbling, water color, looming, sculpture, sidewalk art, platter painting, water gun art and more.
Bourbon’s agriculture department will be showing off its industrial arts projects and hosting a flower arrangement workshop for the public.
“The team’s goal is to show off what we do here to the community in such a way that they can both view and participate in the event,” Peregoy said.
Stations will be spread out through the front of the building and patrons can travel through the event.
“I feel that we have a really good plan for a first-time effort,” Peregoy said. “We want to invite everyone in the community to come out and see what the students in our district are doing. We are excited to open our doors to the public of the Bourbon community and hope to make it a yearly event!
