First Responders Rescue Dog Wounded By Gunshots
UPDATE: Crawford County Coroner Darren Dake said the death of the man involved in this case is still being investigated.
"At this point the only information we can give is that it was an isolated incident and there’s nothing about the incident that would pose danger to anyone else in the community," Dake said. "We hope to make a final determination within the next day or two and can release further information."
Earlier:
The Crawford County Coroner’s Office said first responders from the Bourbon Fire Protection District and North Crawford Ambulance District rescued a family dog that had been wounded by multiple gunshot injuries.
According to Coroner Darren Dake, the office responded April 14 to a scene where a man had died from an unspecified cause.
The victim could not be saved.
Dake said paramedics removed the wounded dog from the house and stabilized him. The dog was transported by Bourbon firefighters to the veterinary clinic in Sullivan where he underwent emergency surgery.
As of Friday, the dog came through the surgery, Dake said, and was drinking water.
“Thank you for the caring dedication of all emergency personnel in our county,” Dake said.
