5K And Four Proposed Ordinances Before Council Tuesday

The Sullivan City Council was scheduled to meet Tuesday, March 15, with one request before them for a 5K Race, a change to personal policy, payment of the monthly bills totaling $1,495,198.40 and four proposed ordinances.

Torrey Woodcock, Jimmy John’s franchisee in Sullivan, was seeking permission from the council to hold the Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast 5K on Saturday, October 22, to benefit the Sullivan, Washington, Union and Rolla VFW posts, all areas in which Woodcock own and operates the Jimmy John’s franchise.

The race would require some street closures at 9:30 a.m. with the route beginning at the Sullivan Fairgrounds and closing streets at Mattox Dr., Sappington Bridge, south of the hospital entrance, Lake Rd. and Land Rd.

Woodcock expects between 350-500 runners to attend the event.

City Administrator J.T. Hardy had one item before the council and that was under Employee Policy for Section 220 with a change that states in part: “Services that are to be reimbursed by an outside agency, will be at an agreed upon or contractual level (i.e. time and one-half, double time, etc.”

The change in policy is being recommended due to the current MoDot Funded Enforcement Grant which allows for a rate of “Double-Time.”

The council was expected to pay the monthly bills in the amount of $1,495,198.40 which included: $694,711.57 to MPUA Power for February electric supply, $47,301.24 UMB Bank for payment 168 on the wastewater treatment plant and $20,118.84 to Oak Grove Village for their share of Wal-Mart Sales Tax Revenue.

Four zoning ordinances were proposed for council approval and have been recommended for approval by Planning and Zoning Commission. The proposed ordinances were:

Ord. 3946, which approved a zero-lot line subdivision located at 690 and 680 Fawn Ridge Court owned by TLA Properties;

Ord. 3947 would approve creating two lots within the City of Sullivan and Oak Grove Village at the corner of Highway AF and Acid Mine Rd. owned by Acid Mine Properties. This only applies to the Sullivan side of the development;

Ord. 3948 would create 13 lots from three existing lots located off Pine Ridge Dr. and North Olive, owned by TCR Properties and

Ord. 3949 would create four lots from two lots at Carmont Subdivision owned by RMJ Properties LLC.

The council did have closed session posted for real estate, litigation and personnel.
