Shamrock Court Light Up Set For March 19
For the first time in some 40 years, Shamrock Court, located on Route 66, Sullivan, will have its iconic neon sign once again brighten the roadway.
A relighting ceremony event will be held Saturday, March 19 held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and lighting at 7:45 p.m.
The former Shamrock Court Motel was purchased by the late John and Rose Weiland in 1952 after they relocated from the Chicago, Illinois area. The Weiland family owned the property for some 67 years before it was purchased by Roamin Rich Dinkela and wife Christina in 2021.
Since that time, tremendous work has gone into the project to restore the Route 66 landmark in Sullivan.
The March 19 event will feature a number of classic Route 66 Hot Rods and much more as the perfect neon replica of the original sign will be set in place and lighted that night.
The Sullivan Independent News will have a feature on this project and the work that has been done to bring the once thriving landmark back to life in the March 16, 2022 edition.
