Multi-Vehicle Accident On I-44 Leads To Serious Injuries For Illinois Woman

An Illinois woman had serious injuries Monday in an accident on Interstate 44 at the 205 mile marker.

The accident occurred around 4:54 p.m. in the eastbound lanes.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Eugene Randall, 52, Woodward, Okla., was inattentive and failed to notice stopped traffic.

His vehicle struck a 2017 Kenworth driven by Jerry Hopper, 52, Pleasant Hope, Mo.

That vehicle then struck a 2014 Ford Focus, driven by Carrie Hinderer, 55, Mahomet, Ill. 

The Focus then struck a 2020 Kenworth that was driven by Luis Villarreal, 30, San Juan, Texas.

Hinderer was taken to Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital. It was unknown if she was wearing her seat belt.

Randall had minor injuries.
