Construction Tops $16 Million In Sullivan For 2021
The Sullivan Building Department announced this week that permits were issued in the City of Sullivan for construction projects toping $16,064,559 for 2021 compared $8,174,350 in 2020, showing a $7,890,209 increase.
The city issued 193 permits compared to 389 in 2020.
Sullivan Building Inspector Dave Dawson reported that 21 permits were issued for single-family homes in 2021, an increase of just one from 2020. There were 68 residential additions and renovations permits issued in 2021.
These permits included work for HVAC replacement, electrical, plumbing, electric service upgrades, decks, accessory buildings and swimming pools.
Overall residential construction cost for permits was $5,988,717 versus $5,923,050 in 2020.
The commercial impact of overall growth for the 193 permits issued in 2021 showed strong numbers with seven commercial or industrial permits.
These commercial/industrial projects included: Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital Rehabilitation Center/Medical Office building, remodeling of the Pharmacy and renovation of the MRI facilities; DKI Restaurant construction, Aldi’s store renovation, Meramec Hotel renovation and some other smaller renovation projects.
Total permits were down three compared to 2020, where ten permits were issued for commercial and industrial construction.
The total commercial costs for 2021, however, were much larger than 2020, with $10,075,842 versus $2,251,300 for 2020.
Dawson did not speculate as to what could be possible in 2022 as the city moves toward the busy construction season with spring just weeks away.
