Peterson Scores 22, Lady Eagles Survive Against Seckman

 

 

Abby Peterson scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading the Lady Eagles to a 37-31 win over Seckman on Thursday.

Peterson was coming off a 31-point performance two nights earlier against Fox.

Her scoring binge fueled back-to-back victories for the Lady Eagles for the first time this season.

Sullivan had to fight off a Seckman rally after jumping out to a 13-4 lead after one quarter.

Peterson began her domination early by netting two free throws and sinking a 3-pointer. Kylee McReynolds landed another Lady Eagles 3-pointer and Seckman needed to take a time out with 4:17 left in the first.

Peterson answered back with a layup and Dakayla McClain managed a big basket for Sullivan when scored one through a foul.

Seckman responded with a few more baskets to begin the second. After Madi McElrath recorded a field goal, the Lady Jaguars took a timeout with 4:43 remaining in the first half. The score was 16-10 after Molly Lohden sank a 3-point basket with 3:25 left.

DaPhane Polanowski added two free throws to the score and Peterson laid in another basket before the half ended. The score was 20-12 at the break.

Peterson kept the pressure when the break was over and added another layup. She netted two more free throws and landed another one off the glass after a steal. She converted a fast break to give the Lady Eagles a 28-16 lead.

Peterson dropped in another inside shot and Seckman answered back with a basket. The Lady Jaguars swished another with under 40 seconds left in the quarter.

Raegan Johnson jammed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, giving Sullivan a 33-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Peterson landed another inside bucket and Seckman answered back with two layups of their own. McClain bagged another basker and the Lady Jaguars took a timeout with the clock at 4:11.

Seckman dropped in a free throw when the action returned and followed with an inside shot.

Head coach Jordan Flora took a timeout with the score at 37-28 and 2:13 remaining.

Seckman’s Abby Coe came out of the break with an scored an inside shot off the glass, but the Jaguars ran out of time.

Peterson accounted for 22 of Sullivan’s 37 points.

McClain followed with four points. McReynolds, Lohden, and Johnson each had three points. Venable and Polanowski each added a free throw.

Sullivan totaled 26 rebounds.

Peterson led with 10 and had two assists and a steal. McClain followed with five rebounds and two steals. Lohden had three rebounds.

McReynolds recorded three rebounds, an assist, and four steals.

Polanowski tallied two rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Delaney George and Johnson each had a rebound. Venable finished with one rebound and four steals.
