Council Approves Two Ordinances Dec. 21
The Sullivan City Council approved two ordinance and payment of the monthly bills totaling $1,714,466.61 during their meeting Tuesday night, December 21.
With no requests and petitions the council moved into comittee reports with Planning and Zoning member Tony Wessler reported to the council that a public hearing was held for creating two new lots from two existing lots at 676 Fisher Dr. The committee recommended approval of the request of property owner by Karen Goddard.
City Administrator J.T. Hardy presented a brief report Tuesday night stating that a public hearing has been scheduled for January 11, 2022, at 6 p.m. to discuss the city’s submission of an application for the fiscal year 2021 Community Development Block Grant program.
The 6 p.m. meeting is bring held to give citizens a chance to provide input as part of the Needs Assessment. The city is seeking to resurface East Vine St. and North and South Rd.
Alderman Paul McCulloch stated he would like to see sidewalks along Sappington Bridge Rd. included in this project.
City Engineer Robert Schaffer reported that if the area already had existing sidewalks it could be considered but with funding criteria it would not meet requirements.
The council approved payment of the monthly bills unanimously in the amount of $1,714,466.61.
Two ordinances were approved Tuesday night: Ord. 3939, approved the above mentioned lot change at 676 Fisher Dr while Ord. 3940, approved a sales contract with Birkel Electric for Lot 4 of Sullivan Industrial Subdivision in the amount of $30,000 with a 24-month contingency for development and non-transferable sales restriction.
City Clerk Jan Koch reported that filing to date for city offices has incumbents Ward One, Two year term, Mark Dalton and Chris Bunk-one year term seeking re-election; Alderman Ward Two Incumbent Jason Alexander seeking re-election and in Ward Three incumbent Paul McCulloch will be challenged by George (Randy) Counts.
