Deputies Locate Wanted Sex Offender, Arrest Four Others

Update: A registered sex offender who was not in compliance with his address was located Tuesday in Beaufort. 

Four other people who had active warrants were arrested as well.

Franklin County sheriff's deputies received information that James T. Rice, 38, was located in a Beaufort home. 

Rice was taken into custody.

Also arrested was:

Miranda Carra, 39, Union, for possession of a controlled substance in Crawford County;

Athena Ghormley, 22, Beaufort, probation violation; 

Jason Lowe, 47, Beaufort, failure to appear and a Sullivan Police Department warrant; and,

Kyle Frueh, 22, Beaufort, active traffic warrants.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a registered sex offender who has not been residing at his given address and is wanted on several charges.

James T. Rice, 38, was found not be living at his registered address during a compliance check.

Rice has been convicted of second-degree statutory sodomy and is a Tier 3 offender.

He has active warrants for his arrest for second-degree domestic assault, two counts of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and failure to register as a sex offender.

In the event that a detective does not answer; ask to speak with a patrol supervisor.  Callers may remain anonymous if they wish.
