Washington Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Due In Court Oct. 28
A Washington man charged in the hit-and-run death of a victim on Highway 100 is due in court Oct. 28.
James Sitze, 21, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident.
Sitze is accused of striking Jason Gilley, 56, Villa Ridge, on Highway 100 at Cromwell Drive on May 2, 2021.
Sitze allegedly fled the scene, which happened around 3:10 a.m.
Gilley was taken to Mercy Hospital in Washington where he died from his injuries.
Sitze was released on bond.
He will appear before Judge David Hoven at 10 a.m. at the Franklin County Courthouse.
The Washington Missourian reported the Missouri Highway Patrol had learned of Sitze’s involvement through a tip, described as “acquaintance of Sitze’s.”
If convicted, Sitze could face up to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections and/or fines up to $10,000.
